Many guests joined us including Catholic Charities CEO Vicky Schultz and staff, Michigan Department of Corrections Supervisors and personnel, Re-Connections Board Members, Life Coaches, and family members. We are blessed by the support we continue to receive.

We again thank our inspiring teachers and guest speakers who have volunteered their time to invest in the men.  I have personally learned a great deal watching these talented men and women as they challenge the minds of our class participants and encourage them to reach new heights.

We have made an outstanding connection with Goodwill Industries. They have a computer training room within a Goodwill store location.  The men can schedule an appointment to learn computer skills and submit online job applications all within a very comfortable, individualized setting.

Calls and letters from men seeking to be part of our program continue.  These men are currently in prison or recently released and have heard good things about Re-Connections.  For those who watch the ongoing water crisis debacle, the crime and blight, and hear only the negative; we see otherwise.  God is moving in Flint, Michigan!  One day our men had the opportunity to lend a hand in the water distribution to Flint residents at the Catholic Charities building.

Our first Achievers Club, which is open to all Re-Connections graduates, held its initial pizza gathering on February 18th.  This is a time for the men to share stories of their journey, to help one another with job leads and area connections, and to enjoy some fellowship together.  These gatherings are planned every 6-8 weeks and we anticipate growth with each session.

Our Class # 1 Achievers continue to keep in contact with their Life Coaches.  At this time all four of the men are employed full time and some have begun to establish their homes in Flint.  One of our Class # 2 Achievers has also gained full time employment.  We anticipate all the graduates will be employed in the weeks ahead.

Save the Date!  Our 1st Annual Golf Outing is being planned for Friday, May 20, 2016.  Please see the EVENTS tab for upcoming details.  Hope to see you there!

As our needs continue to grow, would you prayerfully consider a financial gift to Re-Connections?  You could also become a Path Maker through a recurring monthly investment which will impact the lives and families of these men who strive to re-establish themselves in our communities.  For more information, please see the DONATE tab for options.

As our program continues to grow, we know it wouldn’t be possible without your involvement.  We are very grateful for your prayers, support, time and talents.  You have helped to show our participants what God has in store for them in their new days ahead!

Many thanks and abundant blessings,

Dennis Weinand

February, 2016

On February 5th our second class of Achievers graduated from the Re-Connections program.  Five men received a Certificate of Achievement for completing the classroom training sessions. This certificate, along with the Maintenance Training Certificate presented by Catholic Charities on January 22nd will make a great addition to their resume portfolio.   It was a day of celebration once again as the men dressed in their suit clothes (one for the first time ever), had photos taken and enjoyed their accomplishment.
