During Class #1 we had several Skills Trainers and guest speakers who shared their time, talents, and life stories to encourage and teach the men within the walls of our vintage classroom. Many times our discussions led to the sharing of personal and private insights as we all learned something from one another.

God continues to send committed volunteers to Re-Connections who bring ideas, knowledge, and passion to our program.  We are continually amazed how He provides all that is needed as we journey along this ever-evolving mission.  We also receive calls and letters on a weekly basis from men who are still inside or recently released.  They have heard about our program and inquire how they can become part of it.  Word of our mission is spreading! As our program continues to grow, please consider joining us as a Life Coach or Skills Trainer. Contact us at info.reconnections@gmail.com for additional information.

Catholic Charities Center for Hope has been a great blessing to us in so many ways by providing our classroom setting, an outstanding janitorial work phase segment, and connections to their multitude of services.  Each of the men were provided a new set of steel-toe boots (very cool!), backpacks loaded with basic needs, and were fitted for a suit, complete with a dress shirt & tie, pants, and shoes thanks to Catholic Charities Work Ready Program. The men proudly donned their new suits for graduation day!

The next step for these outstanding men will be securing employment.  Resumes were created, interview and body language skills explained, and lessons on budgeting were completed.  Our staffing partners will now work to place these men in positions at companies around Genesee County. The men continue to spend time with their Life Coaches as well.

After a very successful 2015, we would like to thank all of you who have supported us whether in time, talent, treasure, or prayer.  Together, you have helped give these men a place where they can learn, grow, and take the next steps toward what God has in store for them.  Our goal for 2016 is to reach over 40 men with our program.

As we prepare our 2016 budget, would you prayerfully consider a financial gift to Re-Connections?  You could also become a Path Maker through a recurring monthly investment which will help impact the lives and families of these men who continue to strive to re-establish themselves in our communities.

Many thanks and abundant blessings to you all in 2016!

The journey continues................

December 18th marked the successful completion of the first Re-Connections Journey to Employment program for four dedicated men. They were each awarded a Certificate of Achievement and we had a great celebration with Re-Connections Board Members, Life Coaches, volunteers, Catholic Charities staff, and family members.  What a special day!
